Comfort Hotel Tokyo Kiyosumi Shirakawa Review

As part of my round the world trip using Aeroplan miles, we had one night to book in Tokyo. When our flights changed (to include time travel), it ended up that we had an extra night in Tokyo and needed something in between Narita Airport and the location of our activities in the Shinjuku area the next morning. I looked at a couple of options but the ones nearer Shinjuku or Shibuya were very expensive. Since I knew I was just going to be taking the Metro anyways, I opted for the Comfort Hotel Tokyo Kiyosumi Shirakawa which was conveniently located and priced. Comfort Hotel Tokyo Kiyosumi Shirakawa location

The Comfort Hotel Tokyo Kiyosumi Shirakawa is located at 1-6-12 Shirakawa, Koto-ku, Tokyo, 13, 135-0021, JP. It is super convenient (i.e. literally next) to the Kiyosumi-Shirokawa metro stop (Z11 / E14) on the Hanzomon Line or Oedo Line.

When you walk out of the station, just turn left and it is literally right there.

It’s also a fairly short walk (7-10 minutes) from the Morishita station, where you can get the Shinjuku Line.

Cash prices at the Comfort Hotel Tokyo Kiyosumi Shirakawa range anywhere from $100 to $150 or more, depending on what is going on. On similar dates to when I was booking, the refundable cash price was around $110, and $140.00 if we wanted two beds instead of one, which we did. The points cost was only 8,000 Choice points. I transferred some of my orphaned Radisson points to Choice, which gave me a value of about 1.75 cents per point – a significant value.

Comfort Hotel Tokyo Kiyosumi Shirakawa review – room

I reserved a 2 Twin bed room and that is what I got. If you are used to western hotel rooms, you might be surprised by how small the rooms are in Japan, but I had read reviews and was expecting it. This is basically the entirety of the room.

There is a small walkway at the end of the beds with a small desk. There is not much room for luggage if you have a lot of it.

Right when you walk in there was a door to the bathroom, where you had to walk up one step to get into the bathroom.

The room was fine and the beds were comfortable (and firm). They give only one pillow per bed and it was pretty thin.

Wifi is complimentary in the lobby and in the guest room. The Comfort Hotel Tokyo Kiyosumi Shirakawa wifi was decent but not spectacular

I did measure it again later the next morning and it was faster (around 30-40 Mbps)

They also provide sleepwear, a hairbrush and a razor as part of their amenities, which I found a bit odd, but also saw that on my next Japan hotel stays as well, so apparently that is a thing in Japanese hotel rooms. We didn’t use them but they are provided if you’re interested.

The Comfort Hotel Tokyo Kiyosumi Shirakawa also provides a complimentary space to lock up your luggage if you need it, located on the 2nd floor (where the check in desk is)

There are coin washers and dryers available, also on the 2nd floor.

Next to the checkin desk, the Comfort Hotel Tokyo Kiyosumi Shirakawa has the Comfort Library Cafe, which is open from 10 a.m. to midnight, and gives you a place to hang out, relax and charge your devices.

There is also complimentary coffee and tee available during those same hours.

The Comfort Hotel Tokyo Kiyosumi Shirakawa breakfast is complimentary and included as part of the rate. It had a variety of different Japanese and Western dishes. The breakfast wasn’t anything amazing, but it was better than I’ve seen at Comfort Inn hotels in the United States for sure.

Overall this was a good stay if you need to stay in the Tokyo metro area or are looking for a hotel near the Tokyo metro. I would mostly recommend it on points but if you can pick it up on a cheap cash rate it’s super convenient to the metro which lets you get around Tokyo to wherever you’re going.
