The October and November 2014 PointBreaks list which lets you book specific IHG hotels for only 5,000 points came out earlier this week.  I mentioned when I first gave the full list that if any of the hotels looked interesting, you should book ASAP.

Here’s the reason why  – some hotels seem to be already sold out.  I looked at the Intercontinental Nha Trang in Vietnam, which is the only Intercontinental brand for these particular 2 months.

Yup – it’s sold out on the random date I picked.  But what about the rest of the time?

Pretty sold out, except for one weekend in November.  And frankly, I bet that’s sold out (or close) by now, since I took this screenshot a day or two ago.

Remember, you’re only allowed 2 PointBreaks reservations per account, so you need to be prepared when the lists come out.  At the end of November, the December and January will (hopefully!) come out, so if you want one of the Intercontinental or other “nice” hotels, you’ll want to act fast as soon as you can.

Personally, give me a Holiday Inn or a Staybridge Suites over an Intercontinental, especially when traveling with kids, especially given that most Staybridge Suites offer free DINNER in addition to free breakfast.

Most of the other hotels I spot-checked had plenty of availability still.  I mean no offense to the fine people of Nogales, Arizona, but I get the impression that people aren’t beating down the door to book the Holiday Inn Express there 🙂

A few months ago I waited too long to book a Staybridge Suites stay on PointBreaks and had it sold out on the dates that I wanted, so it DOES happen on even non-Intercontinentals.  If you’ve got your eye on something, book it now!
